Formulating considerations
Typical use levels
EsoDant 55 is typically used at 0.20 – 1.0 % by weight in the final formulation, depending on the application. The optimum level is a function of the composition of the formulation, the anticipated microbial challenge, processing and storage conditions and local regulatory limits. Ester India can supply samples and technical support to help you determine the best preservative system.
Addition to the formulation
Easily incorporated into water-based systems and can be added at any stage of the production process, at a point with good agitation. For best results add as early in the process as possible, provided temperature and pH are within range.
Effect of temperature
Effective over a wide temperature range and can be heated to 80 °C with no loss in performance. For systems that exceed 80 °C, add during the cooling stage once the batch is below 80 °C.
Effect of pH
Stable and effective over the wide formulation pH range of 3 – 10, allowing considerable flexibility in processing and final formulation conditions.
Compatibility
Fully compatible with most personal care formulation ingredients, including all types of cationic, nonionic and anionic surfactants.
